alba Kultur was founded in 1989 in Cologne - one of the swinging multi-cultural cities in Germany’s famous industrial Rhein-Ruhr area, where we are facing the changing cultural identity of western societies and globalisation.
This requires a new vision of art and music. In our work we are high-lighting contemporary music with traditional roots, classical non-western music and avantgarde ethno-acoustic sounds.

In partnership with CIMT / IRMA alba Kultur is creating an european reference book for traditional and global music, which will be published in fall 2010 under the title "Euro World Book".
The content: situation of traditional and global music in Europe (with editorial articles in French, German and English) and a comprehensive collection of contact details of the professional scene.

The international jury of the 2nd national competition »creole-Weltmusik aus Deutschland« 08/09 awarded the winners in Berlin after a three-day-long competition with 17 bands. Congratulations to: “East Affair” from Cologne.
The band with musicians from Germany, Poland, Serbia and Czech Republic founded in 2007 played with joy and convincing professionalism an  open-minded program bridging between traditional Eastern European music and Jazz with African to Indian influences. Their true „Eastern Love Affair” exposed the zimbalon as central instrument beside cajon, bass and jazz guitar. A true open-minded, cross border experience for the audience. addition we congratulate to "Aly Keita & The Magic Balafon" and "The Shin".
